As we previously discussed in this article, The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has announced it will now accept OET for midwives and overseas-trained nurses for employment registration as of 01 November 2017. But how much does taking the test cost?
What is the price of the OET exam?
Similarly to IELTS, the OET exam will test a healthcare professionals’ ability to speak, listen to, read and write English. The benefits of the course are that:
- You are tested on real healthcare situations.
- The exam is now widely accepted by all major healthcare organisations.
- The exam improves your day-to-day English, allowing you to do your job with improved patient and colleague communication.
How much does it cost?
The major downside to the OET is the increased cost. The OET exam costs nearly 120% more than the IELTS exam.
OET costs £349 GBP, €390 Euros or $480 USD.
IELTS costs £160 GBP, €210 Euros or $230 USD.
The increased cost of OET is often a factor for some students however we would argue that OET is always a worthwhile investment. The exam is often a little easier than the IELTS exam and can be passed quickly when working with an OET teacher.
